The rich history of Marmora township started with a story of mining in Eastern Ontario. From the 1820’s this township played a leading role in the development of iron mining. In addition, copper, lead, silver, gold and lithographic limestone have been extracted.
Although mining and lumbering have been vital to the township, the agriculture industry has supported more people in the area since the 1850’s.
It’s not just the history that draws people to Marmora Township, it is also the nature and attractions that the community has within. Marmora is home to the beautiful Glen Allan Park. Located on the North shore of Crowe Lake, Glen Allen Park has camping sites with beach and trail access for summer camping and fun. You can also find the Crowe Valley Jamboree at the Marmora Fair Grounds during the spring and summer season.
