Welcome to Tweed where 30% of the population resides in the village of Tweed and the outstanding 70% in rural areas.  As well, 30% of the total land is Crown land in the area of Tweed. As home to the Tweed Stampede & Jamboree, the community thrives on outdoor events. The stampede was started around 2010 and is a 4 day event located at the Stoco Lake Lodge in Trudeau Park. This event draws big crowds every year with their featured rodeo performances alongside live music, truck pulls and so much more.

Home of Stoco Lake that is known as a popular fishing destination for monster muskie. Although you are more likely to hook a walleye, black crappie, smallmouth or largemouth bass are also found in the lake.

Tweed also has many hiking trails such as Stone Mills Blue Trail that is 5.5 km in length and Haley Lake Trail that is 3.5 km in length. Both trails can be found in the beautiful conservation area called  Sheffield Conservation Area. If you are looking to do a bigger hike you can try some of the trails in Tay Havelock trails.

Are you a history buff? Stop in to North America’s smallest Jailhouse located on Victoria Street N in Tweed. Built in 1898 and opened in 1900, the jail was built for $350 and R.F. Houston was paid $10 for his contributions. The jail was operational for 50 years then eventually closed due to the lack of crime in the town. Nowadays, the jail is used as an information centre where you can visit and take a picture behind the bars.
