What is an Open House?

Where a home owner and their real estate agent invite the public to view the property, usually with a 1 to 3 hour window of time.  During the event, the listing agent will answer questions, point out special design elements and record any potential buyer's interest or the buyer's real estate representatives information to follow up with. 

An open house is meant to secure interest from buyers. It also allows interested buyers to take their time to look through the house and its surrounding property, rather than a shorter one on one appointment with your sales representative.  It is also a great marketing tool to promote with a comfort feeling to potential buyers. 

 

A few helpful tips during an open house:

  1. Let the listing agent know if you are working with a realtor.
  2. Hold any criticism until after you leave
  3. Avoid making an emotional decision
  4. Do not ask the listing agent intrusive questions
  5. Avoid sharing too much
  6. Do not make comments about pricing being unrealistic
  7. Do not take photos without permission of the listing agent
